Original Movie Posters

The primary motive for the creation of movie posters is advertising. They are a means of informing the public about the actors and genre of the movie. They aim at attracting people to watch the movie. They are usually aesthetically appealing and have stills of the movie and its actors as well as some basic information and credits. However, over a period of time, movie posters have become a collector’s delight and are now used more creatively. Instead of being relegated to oblivion once the movie leaves theatres, they are now considered an art form.

Vintage Posters

A poster is a large bill, announcement, or placard, which is often illustrated. A poster could also be an artistic work, which is habitually the reproduction, of an original painting or photograph that is printed on a large sheet of paper. They are designed for posting in some public places for advertising or propaganda. Charitable organizations, political organizations, and advertising agencies use them on a large scale. Apart from their use as a medium of communication, posters have now developed into an art form and are collected by many.

Old Movie Posters

Old movie posters were printed using the technique of lithography. In some cases, the posters were even hand painted. Each Hollywood studio had its own characteristic style of poster making. While some were extremely colorful, others were witty, some were bold, and others were subtle. Old movie posters were created as advertising tools. They were a means to attract people to the cinema. Thus, they were printed on normal, even inferior, quality paper. They were rented out to cinema halls, which were expected to return them once the movie left the theatres, or pass them along to the next cinema hall.

Custom Posters

Custom posters are made to order and are a marketing strategy designed to create and strengthen the brand image. They are an excellent method for companies to make their brands more recognizable. They allow them to reach out to their customers and make an impact. Custom posters are catchy and can be used in various situations and for various events. Hence, they prove to very flexible in their purpose. Another great use for custom posters is to use them as employee gifts.

Inspirational Posters

The term inspiration connotes having a divine influence on the mind and soul of a person. Inspirational posters are designed to inspire the viewer or the reader. They serve a kind of pedagogical purpose, trying to teach and motivate the reader. Most inspirational posters are characterized by an image and a little verse. The images might be of landscapes or people, and the verses are usually proverbs or sayings. Religious organizations also have their own set of inspirational posters to inspire faith and belief in people. These posters might have verses from the holy books and other tenets such as the “Ten Commandments.”
